Q & A
1. What do I need for class? I have mats and bottled water. All you need to bring is what you would usually use in your practice (block, strap, etc.), and a small hand towel. 2. What style do you teach? I instruct in the Vinyasa Flow style. 3. Will we meditate? Yes 4. What if I am new to Yoga? My class is for all levels. Don't be shy! Everyone remembers their first time in class, and most people who come have had little or no experience before. 5. What should I wear? Comfortable yet fitting and flexible clothing. Please be sure your clothing will stay "discreet" with movement. 6. What about food and drinks? Please do not eat within the 2 hours before class. Please drink plenty of water before and after class. I understand that sometimes we all need a little "pick me up", so I don't have a problem with you bringing coffee/tea in, but it will not provide the same hydration as water.
7. Am I too old? NEVER!! 8. What if I'm not flexible/good enough? Yoga is not about being flexible!! Flexibilty is a bonus! Strength, stability, drive, determination and the connection made between the mind, body, spirit, and breath are what is most important. I would also like to point out that yoga is not a competitive environment. You learn that when you are trying to compete with your classmates, that you are really only competing with your ego. And there is no "good enough". In that, when you attend and apply yourself, you are being the BEST yogi/yogini you can be! No matter how far you can reach or how many times you may fall. 9. Would I have to chant? We will usually have an "Om" at the beginning/end of class. Sometimes a short mantra (ie: Om Mani Padme Hum ~ a prayer for compassion) 10. Why don't you have weekend classes? I have two young kids, and we're busy people during the week. I promised my self and family, weekends are family time. Sure, it would be nice to have a class. But, you know how the saying goes, "they'll only be young once."
